The problem

The steel industry is one of the largest contributors to global emissions, responsible for 7% of total CO₂ output. Traditional refining methods also can't make use of low-grade iron ore, limiting both efficiency and sustainability.

The solution

Helios replaces coal and hydrogen with sodium to extract iron from ore, achieving zero direct carbon emissions. Its proprietary modular furnace removes the need for blast furnaces, letting mining companies refine iron on-site and sell directly to steelmakers. The process also unlocks previously unusable low-grade ores, making steel production cleaner and more efficient.
